The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee deferred application MA-TUP-2021.3 and asked staff for more direction on water-use controls, on-island management and enforcement of permit conditions.[1]

The application followed a bylaw-enforcement complaint, and the Advisory Planning Commission recommended reducing the proposed summer days from 45 to 30, the minutes say.[1]

During discussion, public comments raised concerns about water demand, noise and fire risk, monitoring and the effect on commercial operations; others said commercial lodgings support community and employment.[1]

Chair Dan Rogers said the committee has discretion on each application and that neighbours can provide information about compliance with conditions, which would also be reviewed if a renewal application were made.[1]
