Mayne committee expands flexible-housing pilot areas

The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee asked staff to expand the flexible-housing pilot project to include Fernhill Area 2 and areas identified in a staff report as most optimal.[1]
The committee also asked staff to organize a community information meeting during a regular committee meeting to discuss the areas identified for the pilot.[1]
Planner Narissa Chadwick reviewed the process to date, including criteria for identifying areas such as lot size, potential uptake and proximity to amenities; the criteria also included saltwater-intrusion risk, groundwater vulnerability and the effect of increased sewage on groundwater.[1]
