The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee asked the registered owners of the proposed housing site to grant a covenant addressing water and wastewater monitoring, wetland protection, preserved areas, site remediation and development restrictions before any public hearing on Bylaws 181 and 183.[1]

The committee also asked that the covenant include a revised site plan identified in a May 20 staff report, and endorsed proposed changes to the rental-rate structure in a draft housing agreement.[1]

The Mayne Island Housing Society said 29 households were on its wait list for 10 units, and that it had not applied for funding from BC Housing.[1]

Staff said the draft housing agreement and covenant addressed concerns raised earlier, and that the water management plan submitted by the society was under review by the senior freshwater specialist.[1]

Trustees asked staff to investigate default options if affordable housing is not built on Lot 3, including options for Lot 2, and to further explore adding the housing agreement to the covenant with the society.[1]

The committee’s motions were carried; the minutes do not record a date for a public hearing.[1]
