The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee identified housing options, a land-use bylaw review and foreshore education as its three priority steps for the coming year, with staff describing a possible sequence that would begin with housing work and later move to bylaw updates.[1]

Staff said housing work could start with community meetings and a business case for a major project in a following fiscal year, while land-use bylaw updates could be undertaken as a minor project.[1] Trustees discussed holding a housing-focused community session before a regular meeting in the spring and inviting water districts.[1]

The committee also discussed outreach for its flexible housing pilot, which allows an additional small unit in a pilot area.[1] The minutes record the committee’s direction to staff to post an information flyer on the Mayne Island webpage, mail it to property owners in the pilot area and prepare extra copies for posting and handouts.[1]

The minutes record discussion of linking foreshore education with climate-change work and keeping groundwater mapping implementation on the future-project list.[1]
