The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee endorsed recommended next steps toward a business case for its Housing Options Project for 2024/2025, and asked staff to schedule a community information meeting on housing options.[1]
Planner Narissa Chadwick reviewed housing needs and options involving the Official Community Plan and land-use bylaws; the minutes say some OCP policies would need to be relaxed to allow more flexibility.[1]
The discussion included rezoning to ease subdivision for land donations, another meeting with water districts about secondary suites, and a draft Housing Action Plan targeted for mid-May.[1]
The committee also discussed a proposed letter to Capital Regional District Parks requesting information about management of significant archaeological sites on Mayne Island; the motion carried.[1]
