The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee’s draft Housing Action Plan will move to development of a business plan and charter, whether or not it receives funding, Island Planner Narissa Chadwick said at a May 29 special meeting.[1]
Chadwick said the plan remains in draft form and can be adapted and changed.[1]
The plan identifies a pilot area focused on smaller units without increasing the overall footprint, with the aim of increasing rentals and housing variety.[1]
Chadwick said Mayne Island was in a good position to apply to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s Housing Accelerator Fund.[1]
Meeting participants raised the need to include the Mayne Island Housing Society as a stakeholder and partner, and to consider sensitive areas, infrastructure and the effects of development.[1]
