The review will consider mooring buoys after the Mayne Island Local Trust Committee voted to ask staff to add them to its Land Use Bylaws Review at its May 29 meeting.[1]

During discussion, the minutes record comments that mooring buoys had not been included in water zones and that enforcement concerned docks attached to buoys.[1]

The committee also discussed shipping containers, including their definition and use, and asked staff by consensus to include them in the land-use review.[1]

At the meeting’s town hall, Louis Vallee spoke about the difference between docks and mooring-buoy floats, and said some floats provide a service to the island.[1]
