Staff will prepare a project charter for a 2023 project on minor amendments to Mayne Island’s Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw, after the Local Trust Committee approved two requests at its June 26 meeting.[1]

The committee also asked staff to include topics identified during the meeting in the project, which will cover both the Official Community Plan and land-use bylaws.[1]

Discussion topics included shoreline and structure jurisdiction, possible referrals to the Advisory Planning Commission on subjects such as patios and accessory-building height, and a draft First Nations acknowledgement.[1]

The minutes say a legal opinion on mooring buoys was forthcoming, with the issue to be discussed at Trust Council in September.[1]

The committee also adopted two bylaws connected to the Mayne Island Housing Society application: an amendment to the Official Community Plan and an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw.[1]
