The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee paused the Capital Regional District’s St. John Point rezoning application until the Agricultural Land Commission approves the proposed non-farm use for the park entrance area, according to the meeting minutes.[1] The committee also asked that the application be amended to consider a site-specific zone within the Resource Conservation Zone.[1]
The minutes record that trustees discussed whether the proposed parking and facilities could be permitted under that zoning, and that the Agricultural Land Commission’s decision would affect what could be included.[1]
The CRD representative said the proposed entrance hub would include parking, bicycle racks and a toilet facility, and that part of the proposed area was in the Agricultural Land Reserve.[1] The minutes say the CRD had applied for non-farm use.[1]
The committee also considered a renewal of a temporary use permit and a rezoning application for Oceanwood, among other business.[1]
