The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee discussed how the Suitable Land Analysis could relate to housing at its next meeting, after reviewing a tool that identifies areas suitable for potential increased density. [1]

The analysis combines freshwater and environmental themes with sustainable infrastructure, using existing maps and spatial information rather than generating data specifically for the project. [1]

The analysis uses information from third parties, including the provincial government and Capital Regional District, as well as primary data created by the Islands Trust. [1]

The committee discussed making the ArcGIS tool available online and potentially recommending that option to the Regional Planning Committee. [1]

Discussion also covered concerns about inaccuracies in the well-density layer and further refinement of data on sensitive ecosystems, well density and saltwater intrusion. [1]
