Staff will draft bylaws to implement Phase 2 of the Housing Options Project after the Mayne Island Local Trust Committee supported the request at its February 24 meeting. [1]

The discussion included proposed changes to permit cottages on lots greater than one acre while maintaining a 2500 square foot maximum total combined floor area on smaller lots. [1]

Trustees also supported adding policies for clustered small-unit housing and multi-unit attached housing, with such housing not exceeding ten units and located near services, amenities, and walking and biking trails. [1]

The committee supported allowing zoning for non-market housing in Public Use and Public Services, Regional Parks, and Community Parks areas, and increasing permitted dwelling units in several identified areas. [1]

The minutes also record a town-hall discussion about a bylaw determination involving contractor-yard use. Staff said the options included ceasing operations, finding another location, or discussing a Temporary Use Permit, and that the letter gave 90 days to find a solution. [1]
