The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee asked staff to review criteria for small unit clustered dwellings on appropriate lots and develop a model zone for those dwellings. [1] The committee also approved criteria for considering flexible housing zoning, including not being on waterfront, archaeological areas and buffers, sensitive ecosystems, freshwater recharge impact and steep slopes hazard. [1]
The committee approved a draft MayneLiner article about flexible housing zoning as amended. [1] It requested that relevant staff reports and minutes be referred to the Advisory Planning Commission for comment, with particular focus on RVs, flexible housing locations, expanding secondary suites to water districts, floor area maximums and a potential model zone for clustered dwellings. [1]
A community information meeting was scheduled for July 28, 2025, at the Mayne Island Agricultural Hall at the start of the Local Trust Committee regular business meeting. [1]
The committee also noted that the project could include a colour map identifying properties suited to flexible housing zoning, with parks and protected areas added as a map layer. [1] It requested that language prohibiting groundwater-fed swimming pools be excluded from the MayneLiner article but included in Official Community Plan amendments. [1]
