The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee directed staff to revise the housing-project bylaws and return them for consideration of first reading. The minutes say the proposed expansion of secondary-suite permissions in water-district areas was removed from the current work and put on a future Land Use Bylaw Review Work Project.[1]

Trustees supported requiring worker housing for significant commercial rezonings. They also discussed expanding flexible-housing regulations and allowing rezoning for non-market housing in more land-use designations.[1]

At the community information meeting, residents raised concerns about water supply, including whether the proposed cistern capacity would last through dry periods. The minutes record a planner saying the 3,000-gallon requirement came from existing Mayne bylaws and that other islands were seeking an 18,000-litre capacity after studies of available cistern sizes and water needs.[1]

The committee asked staff to update the draft Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw amendments as directed at the meeting, then return them for consideration of first reading.[1]
