The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee deferred TUP-2025-0060 until it receives a formal response from the Capital Regional District following a Southern Harbours Commission meeting and concerns about eelgrass, the proposed location and mooring-buoy interference are addressed. [1]
Staff reported correspondence expressing concern about the location of the floats, their proximity to eel grass and the legality of the temporary use permit in federally regulated waters. [1]
The Capital Regional District had requested that the committee defer its decision until the Southern Gulf Islands Harbours Commission meets. [1]
The minutes record comments that the bylaw compliance and enforcement file is on hold until the application is completed, and that bylaw enforcement will not continue until the issue has been resolved. [1]
The committee also recorded concerns about jurisdiction, possible commercial activity, hazards to the foreshore and interference with people getting in and out of Anson Road Dock. [1]
