The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee gave third readings to proposed Bylaws 196 and 197 after amendments concerning population projections, housing needs and cistern requirements. [1]

The committee forwarded Bylaw 196 to the Secretary of the Islands Trust for approval by the Executive Committee and to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs for approval. [1]

It also forwarded Bylaw 197 to the Secretary of the Islands Trust for approval by the Executive Committee. [1]

The committee directed staff to remove the phrase “for a lot outside a community water system” from the cistern requirements in Bylaw 197. [1]

The minutes state that the proposed bylaw would require an 18,000 litre capacity cistern for a new dwelling or secondary suite larger than 1000 square feet on a lot outside a community water system, with a smaller capacity cistern required for dwellings less than 1000 square feet. [1]

The committee also moved a future project on “ground water and cistern implementation” to the first position on its Future Projects List. [1]
