Mayne Island trustees adopted an amended Bylaw Compliance and Enforcement Policy on July 20, including a provision allowing enforcement of violations involving storage of vehicles, derelict vehicles or vehicle parts without a written complaint.[1]

The committee changed the proposed wording after discussing the policy. The minutes record support for proactive enforcement on vehicle storage and a comment that violations involving disposal or storage of waste or recyclable materials should be investigated through written complaint only.[1]

The staff report recommended amendments addressing derelict vehicles, waste storage, unsightly premises, residential uses on non-residential properties, inspection notice periods and how investigations are screened and focused.[1]

The committee also asked staff to change its August 31 meeting to an electronic meeting.[1]
