What is a structure on Mayne?

Mayne has its own land-use bylaw, Bylaw 146. It splits two things that people often mix up: a mobile home, and a tiny home on wheels.

A tiny home on wheels is a camper

If a tiny home on wheels meets the camper safety standard, Mayne’s bylaw calls it a recreational vehicle. It is not a mobile home.

“tiny home on wheels that meets the Canadian Standards Association Standard for Recreational Vehicles, but does not include a mobile home”

And it is not a house in some rules

In named parts of the bylaw, campers and tiny homes on wheels are not allowed as dwellings or cottages.

“recreational vehicles and tiny homes on wheels are not permitted dwellings or cottages”
