The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee asked staff to revise draft bylaws for a proposed housing rezoning, including adding a definition of affordable housing and accounting for a buffer zone. It also asked staff to review whether a development permit or covenant could address site concerns and to schedule a community information meeting once requested information from the applicant has been received.[1]
The draft bylaws would amend the land use bylaw and the Official Community Plan, including creating a new zone for multifamily housing, planner Narissa Chadwick told the committee. She said staff was still waiting for several requested materials from the applicant.[1]
Trustees raised questions about setbacks, septic location, conservation and the proposed subdivision. The minutes record that the Mayne Island Housing Society representative said a wetlands specialist report was expected within two weeks and that the society was working with professionals on the design.[1]
The committee also asked staff to request an updated property survey from the Mayne Island Housing Society. The minutes record that the motions on the survey, bylaw changes, review of a development permit or covenant, and a later community information meeting carried.[1]
